Red Light mode uses 630nm red light alongside 850nm near-infrared — wavelengths that have been investigated in photobiomodulation research involving melasma and pigment-prone skin.

Photobiomodulation is different from treatments designed to aggressively remove pigment. It uses low-level light and has been investigated for its potential influence on cellular signalling, inflammation, pigmentation pathways and the skin environment.

LUMICOOL Cryofacial Mini is a cosmetic at-home device and is not presented as a cure for melasma. Treatment response depends on more than wavelength alone, including light output, dose and individual skin response.

The Mini is the compact, rechargeable multi-function option combining LED light with cooling and warming. The full-size LUMICOOL Cryofacial is much more cooling-focused, with a larger treatment plate and maximum cooling of approximately 5°C.
Yes. The LED and temperature functions are controlled separately. Select Red, Green, Purple or Blue light, then use that light alongside either Cooling or Warming.
Cooling has three settings: 12°C, 13°C and 14°C. Warming has three settings: 35°C, 40°C and 45°C.
Red Light is 630nm, Green Light is 490nm and Blue Light is 470nm. The visible LED modes are combined with 850nm near-infrared. Purple is also available as a selectable LED mode.
The 630nm Red Light + 850nm Near-Infrared combination is the most interesting for pigment-conscious skincare because these wavelengths have been investigated in photobiomodulation research involving melasma. This does not mean the Mini should be considered a cure or guaranteed treatment for melasma.
