Biomicroneedling Facial

A professional-style Spongilla Spicule Resurfacing Treatment designed to visibly renew dull, rough, congested and uneven-looking skin.

This 100% natural treatment uses microscopic sponge-derived bio-needles to create a prickly mechanical resurfacing effect on the skin’s surface. As the treatment works, skin may become red, dry, tight and begin visibly shedding from around day 4.

Important for melasma-prone skin.

If you have melasma, this facial should not be used on its own. You must use targeted pigment support — at minimum Windyigarn Brightening Complex — to help reduce the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation during the renewal cycle.

Microscopic bio-needles. Visible skin shedding.

Biomicroneedling uses Spongilla spicules — tiny sponge-derived bio-needles — to create mechanical exfoliation and skin-surface stimulation.

Unlike an acid peel, this treatment is not based on a low pH chemical resurfacing process. The exfoliating effect comes from the spicules being massaged across the skin for 15 minutes using light pressure only, helping encourage dryness, shedding and visible renewal over the following days.

Who this is for

For skin that looks dull, rough, congested or uneven.

Texture refinement

Helps improve the look of rough, uneven skin texture by encouraging visible surface shedding and renewal.

Congestion support

Ideal for skin that looks clogged, bumpy or congested and needs a stronger resurfacing treatment than a daily serum.

Dull skin renewal

Helps refresh skin that looks flat, tired or lacklustre by supporting a visible shedding phase.

Uneven-looking tone

Supports a smoother, brighter-looking complexion once the skin has completed the peeling and healing phase.

What to expect

This facial has a real downtime cycle.

Redness, tightness, dryness and peeling are expected. This is not a soft glow mask — it is an active resurfacing treatment that works through controlled dryness and visible shedding.

Because the facial works through mechanical resurfacing and visible shedding, it should be used no more than once per fortnight. Using it too often may increase irritation, barrier disruption and pigmentation risk, especially in melasma-prone skin.

Day 1 Skin may look red and feel hot, prickly, tight or sensitive. Redness can last up to 72 hours.
Days 2–3 Skin may feel dry, rough or tight. Keep skin dry and avoid all active ingredients.
Day 4 Peeling and visible shedding commonly begins. Do not pick, scrub or manually remove skin.
Days 5–7 Shedding may continue for 2–3 days. Keep aftercare simple until the skin has settled.
Visual healing phase

The peeling is the point.

This treatment is based on controlled dryness, mechanical exfoliation and visible shedding. The goal is not to keep the skin heavily hydrated during the peeling phase — the skin needs to dry, lift and shed naturally.

How to use

Mix. Massage for 15 minutes. Rinse. Then leave the skin alone.

The massage step is what helps work the spicules across the skin. Use careful circular motions for 15 minutes with light pressure only. Do not scrub, press hard or force the treatment deeper.

  • Mix one powder vial with one liquid vial until combined.
  • Apply evenly to clean skin, avoiding the eye area, lips and broken skin.
  • Massage over the face for 15 minutes using careful circular motions and light pressure only. Do not scrub or press aggressively.
  • Rinse thoroughly with water.
  • Use no more than once per fortnight. Do not repeat until the skin has fully healed and is no longer red, peeling, dry, tight, sensitive or irritated.
  • Keep skin dry and avoid active ingredients for 1 week while healing.
  • Use only a simple moisturiser if needed. Do not over-hydrate or occlude the skin.
  • Do not pick, scrub, exfoliate or manually remove peeling skin.
Melasma warning

Melasma-prone skin needs pigment control before resurfacing.

Any treatment that creates redness, heat, inflammation, dryness or peeling can increase the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in melasma-prone skin.

If you have melasma, do not use this facial as a standalone treatment. Your skin needs pigment support before and after the healing phase.

Minimum requirement for melasma-prone skin:

Use Windyigarn Brightening Complex as your baseline pigment support. Pause it during the 7-day healing window, then restart once the skin has settled.

  • Use Brightening Complex before treatment as part of your pigment routine.
  • Stop all actives for the 7-day healing phase.
  • Restart Brightening Complex once redness, peeling and sensitivity have settled.
  • Wear SPF daily. No exceptions.
Required pigment support

Using this for melasma? Do not skip Brightening Complex.

Biomicroneedling creates an active resurfacing response. That can be powerful for texture and dullness — but melasma-prone skin can darken after inflammation if it is not properly supported.

Brightening Complex is the minimum product we recommend for melasma-prone skin using this facial, because your skin needs targeted pigment support before and after the peeling cycle.

Aftercare rules

The 7-day healing phase matters.

Do this:
  • Keep the skin dry during the early healing phase.
  • Use only a simple moisturiser if your skin feels too tight.
  • Let the skin peel naturally.
  • Use SPF daily and avoid direct sun exposure.
  • Wait until the skin has fully settled before restarting active skincare.
Do not do this:
  • Do not use acids, retinoids, vitamin C, exfoliants or pigment actives for 1 week.
  • Do not heavily moisturise, slug or occlude the skin.
  • Do not pick, peel, scrub or use cleansing brushes.
  • Do not use on sunburnt, broken, inflamed or irritated skin.
  • Do not use during an active melasma flare.
FAQ

Biomicroneedling Facial FAQ

Is this a chemical peel?

No. This is not an acid-based chemical peel. It works through Spongilla spicules, which create a mechanical resurfacing effect on the skin’s surface.

How long do I massage it for?

Massage for 15 minutes using light pressure only. The goal is to work the spicules evenly across the skin, not to scrub or force the treatment deeper. Pressing too hard may increase irritation and pigmentation risk.

Will my skin peel?

Visible peeling or shedding can occur from around day 4 and may last 2–3 days. Dryness, tightness and roughness are expected during the renewal phase.

Is redness normal?

Yes. Redness, warmth, prickling and tightness for up to 72 hours can be normal after this treatment.

Can I use moisturiser?

A simple moisturiser can be used if needed, but do not over-hydrate, slug or heavily occlude the skin. This treatment relies on dryness and shedding as part of the resurfacing process.

Can I use active skincare afterwards?

No. Avoid active ingredients for 1 week while the skin heals. This includes acids, retinoids, vitamin C, exfoliants and strong pigment actives.

Can I use this if I have melasma?

Only if your skin is calm, stable and already supported with pigment-focused skincare. At minimum, melasma-prone customers should be using Windyigarn Brightening Complex before and after the healing phase to help reduce the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

How many applications are in the box?

Each box contains 5 applications. Each application uses one powder vial and one liquid vial.

How often should I use it?

Use no more than once per fortnight. Do not repeat while skin is still red, peeling, tight, sensitive, dry, irritated or compromised. This is an active resurfacing treatment with downtime, not a weekly mask.
